A SOCIAL worker who was sacked after allegedly kicking a schoolboy has taken his case to an employment tribunal. Baume & Mercier WatchesWilliam Frew, who worked at Springboig St John's residential school in Glasgow's East End raised an unfair dismissal case after being fired last August. The school, which has 42 residential beds and 38 places for day pupils cares for young men between the ages of 14 and 16. The tribunal heard how the 51-year-old was tearful after the incident in April 2009, when it is alleged he pulled a pupil by the hair and kicked him on the shin. Mr Frew was escorting two pupils to a gym when the incident happened. The tribunal heard how a co-worker said Mr Frew believed he was about to be assaulted but "temporarily lost control of himself and kicked him (one of the boys) on the shin." The tribunal also heard how Mr Frew believed the two boys had been targeting him, particularly while he was alone. Martin McCambridge, a former chairman of the board of managers at the school, said Mr Frew was suspended that day but remained on full pay until his dismissal last August. The decision to let him go, he said, was based on Mr Frew kicking the young man. miu miu Replica HandbagsMr McCambridge told the tribunal: "On the evidence presented we felt that the assault had taken place. "The trust had broken down with the school and it was totally unaccepatble behaviour and it was in the worst category." Asked by Advocate Sheena Stark if the school wanted to dismiss Mr Frew, Mr McCambridge replied "absolutely not". He said: "He was a very amenable man. I would certainly have preferred if the incident hadn't happened." But he added: "We came to the conclusion that there had been an altercation. Mr Frew hadn't dealt with it in a manner he would have been expected to. "Assault is not accepted in our school." He replied: "The sequence of events became irrelevant. I didn't take the hair pulling as a serious matter." The hearing continues.
